Golf
Long Thanh Golf Club offers 36 holes in former rice paddies and scenic countryside surrounding Saigon. It is located 30 kilometres north of the city with unobstructed views back towards Saigon. Both the Hill and Lake courses are well maintained throughout the year. The Hill Course features rolling fairways and large undulating greens. Each hole is framed by large oil palms. The Lake Course is characterized by many high lipped bunkers and water hazards on almost every hole to catch errant shots. Overall, golf at Long Thanh is an impressive experience and is sure to please all standard of golfers.
Vietnam Golf & Country Club is the home of the Vietnam Masters and is located just 17 kilometres from Ho Chi Minh City. The Club is set amongst 300 hectares of land and is comprised of two championship golf courses. Bothe courses have been carved out of existing woodlands. Open since 1995, the West Course features narrow tree-lined fairways and fast running greens. The East Course is designed by Lee Trevino and opened in 1997. This course offers more generous fairways but is protected by 110 well-positioned bunkers, water hazards and fast-rolling Bermuda Tifdwarf greens. Vietnam Golf & Country Club is a great choice for a day of golfing in Saigon.
Jeongsan Country Club is a private golf club on an island in the Saigon River. Travel to this Saigon golf course requires golfers to take a private speedboat up river to the golf club. The 18-hole Korean owned course was developed by Ron Fream’s Golfplan Company from the USA. The out and back layout is typical of top resort courses. Heavy bunkering on most holes of this otherwise flattish land adds interest and enjoyment throughout the golf course and poses challenges even for the most serious golfers. The front nine plays along the river with some excellent views to the right of several holes. Playing on the Out (Sun Course) and In (Moon Course) ends up a very overall enjoyable day of golf in Saigon.
The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip is an exciting links style Greg Norman designed golf course. It is located 80 kilometres southeast of Ho Chi Minh City in Vung Tau Province on the southern Vietnamese coastline. It takes around 2 hours to reach by a mix of highway and local roads. The Bluffs Ho Tram is a unique links style par-71 golf course on a rugged site often accompanied by strong onshore breezes. The site sits on a coastal plateau with 50 metre elevation changes from the highest to lowest point and holes are routed among towering seaside sand dunes. Being exposed to high sea winds at certain times through the year creates extreme challenge for even the most capable golfers. The Bluffs Ho Tram Strip facilities include a three level clubhouse with an array of dining options to complement the championship golf course. The onsite PGA golf academy and driving range with more than 3,000 square metres of practice and training facilities is also a great place to warm up before any round.
