The Best Time to Visit Tasmania
The weather in Australia’s Southern-most state can be unpredictable and the best time to visit for golf is between the months of December and March. Temperatures are usually very comfortable - in the mid 20’s with some warmer days in the 30’s as well. It’s always advisable to take along your wet weather gear as Tasmania has a reputation much like Melbourne, where you can get four seasons in one day. Many of our guests visiting Tasmania for golf believe that this kind weather adds to the charm of playing links golf on two of the best layouts anywhere in the world.
Tasmania’s Best Courses
If you have ever needed a reason to visit Tasmania then the world renowned Barnbougle Dunes and Lost Farm golf complex provide the avid golfer with the perfect excuse. Ranked as Australia's No. 1 public golf access course and No. 21 in the world, Barnbougle is an absolute must for every golfer. Barnbougle is strong enough to test gifted golfers, yet fair enough to be enjoyed by the average player. The 18 holes championship layout rivals the great links courses of Britain and Ireland. Spread across and between towering coastal dunes; breathtaking views and thrilling golf come together in a dramatic setting on Tasmania's North East coast. Boasting spectacular holes that wind along the coast, adjacent to the Forester River and inland towards the Tasmanian hinterland.
Barnbougle Lost Farm is a breathtakingly beautiful golf course that is dramatically different and yet simultaneously complements both the surrounding landscape and Barnbougle Dunes. Lost Farm features 20 holes all of which are playable during any given round, whilst the layout of holes at Lost Farm also offer a more diverse routing compared to Barnbougle Dunes, with fairways that roll both along the coast and inland.
Country Club Tasmania boasts an international standard 18-hole golf course designed and built in 1982 by Mike Wolveridge and British Open champion Peter Thomson. Since then, the course has grown to be one of the best courses in Tasmania, with challenging fairways, water hazards and fast greens that are truly of championship standard. With all the characteristics of a true country club – recreational opportunities, great dining and entertainment, first-class accommodation and a boutique casino – Country Club Tasmania is conveniently located on the rural fringe of Launceston.
